Floral Baby Girls Room + Free Printables

When we decided not to find out whether we were having a boy or a girl, we knew there would be a few challenges in preparing for the arrival of our new bundle of joy. The clothes we bought were mostly mint, white, and gray. The big ticket items were gender neutral (which is certainly a bonus when thinking about future children). And, the nursery was undone, containing nothing but a white crib, a black and white rug, an IKEA dresser painted mint green, and a book wall adorned with a primary colored piece of wall art. Furthermore, I may have sworn up and down that I was definitely having a boy, hence, leaning slightly harder to the blue side.

But here’s the thing about neutral, when you have a GIRL, these things suddenly don’t seem so neutral anymore and seem straight out boyish. When Miss Nora arrived obviously we were elated to have a little lady, and I wasted no time getting to work on my baby girl’s room. Now we were behind… I  mean, she had a boy room! Ha!

Enter my current obsession with florals. Nora’s room is HEAVILY inspired by Anna Bond’s Rifle Paper Co. Her work is how I hope my soul looks, and since I can’t see my soul I used Nora’s room as the ultimate canvas for all things whimsy.

We try not to paint in our apartments because it is a huge hassle to get it back to neutral when the time comes to move. So we always try to infuse color in other ways. These wall decals ended up creating the perfect color palette for her room.

I find her room to be the perfect mix of handmade/DIY and purchased items. I loved finding the perfect pieces to fit in each spot of her cozy room.

Floral Globe

My favorite piece may actually be the floral globe I DIYed using this great tutorial from A Joyful Riot. I originally planned on doing her whole tutorial, but I really enjoyed the naked look of the globe so I just decided to incorporate the flowers. I loved the globe so much, I used the same idea for her initial heart at the focal point of her gallery wall.

The book wall stayed. BUT, we replaced the primary colored art print with these sweet quotes from some of my favorite stories. You can actually print these for yourself down below!

Her room is not huge. I mean hello, New York City, I’m LUCKY to have a second bedroom at all let alone one a person can sleep in. Her room is amazingly bright and could certainly accommodate a baby doll carriage or two with some room to grow. I remember reading somewhere once that if you just keep adding things you like, even if you think they are all random, somehow, it all comes together. This baby girl’s room turned out to be a perfect example of that.
